Visit this beautiful part of the country; as some say England’s best kept secret, and put behind you the hustle and bustle of everyday life as you relax, unwind and take it easy. Northumberland really does have it all, from idyllic countryside, stunning practically deserted beaches, medieval castles and numerous parkland and links golf courses. Not only is it one of the most picturesque parts of country, its also a region steeped in history and heritage.
Famous for its castles, the area attracts many visitors each year who are keen to see Alnwick castle of Harry Potter fame and Bamburgh, which is without doubt one of the most impressive castles in the UK. Then of course there is Hadrian’s Wall, a remarkable Roman monument and now a world heritage site.
The region also offers stunning landscapes which can easily be explored on foot or by bike. The national park is home to a rich display of wildlife, some of which can be seen from your own window including, deer, herons, pheasants, whilst the expansive coastline provides a unique opportunity to view some of the UK’s rarest birdlife.
You should also take the time to visit the beautiful gardens and impressive country houses in the area including Cragside at nearby Rothbury, Belsay Hall Castle and Gardens near Morpeth, Howick Hall Gardens and Arboretum and Alnwick Castle gardens.
If you enjoy shopping, take a trip into Newcastle or visit the Metro Centre, a mere 30-minute drive away where you will find all your favourite high Street shops and many local bespoke independents.
